Original artwork description:

Inspired by my visit to the cathedral of Santa Rosa in Peru in 2016. Saint Rose is the patron saint of the indigenous people of Peru because of her heart for the poor and the oppressed.

Edges painted black, wire on back, ready to hang. Second image shows sample reverse of this size/series.

Lorette's signature squares explore the whole world with eclectic curiosity, irreverence, and an eye for both humour and beauty. She takes inspiration from art history, literature, cinema, culture, and personal experiences, mining everything she sees and discovers for its aesthetic possibilities. Her collage paintings are at turns surreal, quirky, urban, abstract, and beautiful. Her squares have been collected in dozens of countries around the world, exhibited internationally, and published on text book covers, in literary journals, and beyond. She creates album sized squares 12x12 inches because they fit into nooks and crannies and small space living. She also creates large and oversized mixed media paintings.

Materials used:

acrylic, collage, pastel
