The most distinctive characteristic of this gorgeous tropical bird is its vivid pink color and long spoon-shaped bill. I said to myself, " No way, this can't be a real bird" when I saw it for the very first time. Its epic appearance makes this bird look unreal as if it came from a fantasy world. I tried to capture its marvelous beauty on the canvas.

Like the flamingo, the roseate spoonbill's pink color comes from the food it eats. Some of the crustaceans it eats feed on algae that give the spoonbill's feathers their rosy pink color.
