Original artwork description:

I am walking along a hillside road, chasing a winter sunset. The olive trees around me seem motionless, but their prickly branches shake in the wind. The air is clear, the shadows sharp, the tarmac still wet from the rain. The moisture on everything reflects the light, and the contrast of the opposite sun makes this patch of earth enchanting. I watch the olive trees, the olive trees watch me painting.
I am just an intruder on their path.

This painting was done en plein air in November 2016, along a road in the Tuscan hills.
The work is painted in oil on paper, then stretched on 100% linen canvas and finally mounted on a fixed fir frame.
The signature is in the lower right corner.
The painting is protected with a layer of satin acrylic varnish.
The work comes with a thin fir frame, the knots in the wood deliberately exposed to enhance the naturalness of the subject. The frame is stained dark brown. It is ready to hang.
The painting is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity signed by the artist.
“The road and the olive trees” is a literal translation of the original Italian title “La strada e gli ulivi”.
