Original artwork description:

Part of a project documenting Devon's splendid rivers. The Torridge takes waters all the way from Dartmoor to the sea in North Devon. Around Great Torrington it meanders in large curves through the folds of the landscape, and there aren't many bridges. Orford bridge is one of them, and I have captured it here on a (nearly) wall-size deep canvas in spring attire. Having clambered down the slopes the spring sunlight highlighted both the spring foliage as well as the blues of the shades. The result is I think a vibrant and spontaneous image in which the human element enhances the natural beauty of the place.
