Karl Marx in 1882 cut off his beard, we know from his correspondence. It is not known to the public a photo of Marx without a beard, but the Marxist professor and philosopher Armando Plebe claimed to have seen one in a state bunker in Russia and to assume the real reason for that cut.
Indeed he said: "There are very few social phenomena that replicated in different contexts give the same result, Communism no, wherever it has been applied has been a failure".
