The solar circle is the sign of infinity, the tree of life, the shining cross.
The cross is the intersection of man’s earthly life horizontal with his divine vertical, the purpose and meaning of human life.
The pearl is the symbol of rebirth and light. And an indispensable attribute of my paintings, the needle of life with a drop of blood, is the harbinger of new life.
It is amazing how Parajanov has the ability to loop life and death in a continuous and creative cycle of being.
Life continues through death. Rebirth. Immortality of the spirit. Or eternal memory? In Parajanov's "pearls" one can interpret so much…
