Acrylic painting on board, mounted in a white frame and ready to hang.
Inspired by my close observation over many years of the surfaces of the urban environment, and interested in expressing something of the character of those involuntarily made, unexpected fragments of beauty. The work was created by intuitively building up many layers over time, and resulted, as was the intention, in an end point I couldn't have foreseen when I began. As always, it becomes the manifestation of something I feel deeply about - I don't know if this is simply a meaning I find in the finished piece, or something that emerges as I paint. I believe it has the possibility to reveal its deeper meaning to any who care to look for one there - but it is not for me to say what it will be!
