Title: The Picnic Spot

The Picnic Spot lies deep in the Caledonian forest near Calendar. This ancient forest is seems unchanged by time and is filled with ancient gnarled trees that have been there for hundreds of years. You can wander for miles and miles along tiny paths listening only to the leaves gently rustling and the birds singing. You will come across streams of crystal clear water that gush in tiny waterfalls over rocks into clear pools. The forest has mysterious dark places that may never have seen more than a passing deer but then there are the clearings. Small areas shot through with glorious sunshine. In these little spots the new trees grow with their electric green leaves. Here is the place to sit and just drink in the clear air, the solitude and the colour green.

This is one of a few images that I saved from a trip with Charlie, my little brown spaniel. Seeing this and the accompanying image The Dream Tree brought back happy memories of his tail wagging as he trotted down the paths in front of me, leading the way or just looking for a good stick.

Made on a trip through the forests near Callendar, a small village in the Scottish Highlands.


The image has an additional border of at least 2 inches all round in white.
