Original artwork description:

I painted this on a warm summer day beside the river Wantsum, at Sarre in East Kent.
In ancient times, this was the shoreline of the Isle of Thanet, where a ferryman would take people to and from the mainland of England.
Reculver was an important fort in Roman times, guarding the Kent coast.
