There's a little known lake in northern Italy called Lake Orta and in the middle of this lake there is an island called Saint Julius, the patron saint of this region. It's so beautiful, like a precious jewel shimmering on the water. If you're ever in the area (Lake Maggiore), you mustn't miss the opportunity to see it for yourself. The memory of Lake Orta is what inspired this painting.
