Original artwork description:

Found materials; tin, gauze, ace bandage and fabric scraps collaged onto canvas and glazed with oil paint. All combined to generate a collage/painting wallhanging which emphasizes relief and sculptural character. The daiquiri green coloring alludes to the effects of oxidation as seen on the Statue of Liberty and adds to the appearance of an object battered and tattered by time yet bearing the beauty of experience and decay. In this allusion to aging an illusion is suggested as it is fiction rather than fact. Its been to staged, like a set piece, to sustain these impressions. Time is however a component compressed into to the finished work as I started it in 2015 knowing I would revisit it over many years of additions alterations.

Materials used:

mixed media on canvas
