Original artwork description:

I fell in love with the Ole Mill - a tumble down old Mill during a short trip in Ireland with my ex. We had just finished visiting a monastery in Youghal, South East Ireland, driving down a country lane when we saw, quite by accident, what I thought at first to be an ancient castle. I was instantly captivated by its enchantingly over-grown spooky charm. It took me back to my childhood when some cousins and myself, out for a country walk, came upon a "haunted house" - completely forlorn and derelict with trees growing from it's eaves.

It transpired that The Ole Mill was to be knocked down by property developers. I simply had to produce a painting of it. To miss the opportunity would have been a real shame.

The painting is an unframed block or wrap-around canvas as apposed to a canvas board. I have also continued the painting around the edges of the canvas making the actual size of the image slightly larger than the space it would take up on a wall.

Materials used:

Oil on Canvas
