In 2019, I was in the open air in Italy and I was lucky enough to be in the very old town of Grisolia. This small town is located in the southern Italian region of Calabria. The city is located high in the mountains and the old part of the city dates back to the first centuries. I was amazed at how the houses, streets and, most importantly, the entrance to the city were preserved. It is this part of the old city that I painted in this picture. I was inspired by the old retaining wall, so unusual and eye-catching! Massive stone steps lead to the old city.
