This is an Oil Pastel drawing of the same view that I drew in Ink. It was done “en plein air” during the warm Australian summer mornings in the beautiful city of Melbourne. As I was drawing the ink picture (which I might add colour to) I decided to do this version because I liked the colours and architectural details of the scene. I also liked how the morning sunlight slowly moved across the view illuminating the near corner and edges of the older building. Oil Pastels are a good medium to use when you want some instant loose colour and I also enjoy working back into the picture to define the smaller details, sometimes it feels a bit sculptural.
