THE NEW JUDITH - Mixed media on canvas with enamel and acrylic - cm. 58x65 - Year 2016
One of my themes aims to bring the old masters into dialogue with mass culture. Combining modern strategies and Pop suggestions with the art of the past. A bridge between the ancient and the contemporary. This is the revisitation of Klimt's ‘Judith’, the fatal seductress who takes on the biblical guise of Salome or Judith. In this painting, all my research, my Poetics of Fantasy, my world made up of dreams, visions, loneliness, sadness and desolation, typical of today's society, and I am the spokesperson for it, through my works, can be seen. In this painting we can see on the left, with the painting in front of us, a graphic representation of Judith with the head of Holofernes in a blurred and shadowy way, while in the central and most visible part is a modern Judith holding by the hair a young man who is her succubus, her victim; a woman who does not suffer the power of men, but on the contrary imposes her supremacy, her expression is confident, her hands are the same as those painted by Klimt, hands contracted in an almost hysterical twist.
The painting measures 58x65 cm, the canvas is framed and also painted on the edges, so it can also be exhibited without a frame. It lends itself to a modern setting, but also classical, given the theme. The work is very well balanced, both in the movements of the characters and in the colours.
The painting has been published several times, exhibited in Padua, at the Mediolanum Art Gallery, and 2017 at DUBAI - Italian Vanity Art Exhibition. If you would like to know more about my work, read my biography , watch the video , read the many criticisms I have received from the most talented Art Historians .
