Original artwork description:

“The Mountains Of Grasmoor from Buttermere” is an acrylic painting on canvas. It is 90x60 cms stretched over a custom made frame with steel corner braces. Lake Buttermere in Cumbria U.K. is known as the lake by the dairy pastures and is part of a classic combination of lakes and mountains. The mountains of Grasmoor can be seen above Crummockwater. The painting started from a series of on-site drawings made from the lakeside at Buttermere. The sketches were made in September 2018. Very strong light. Deep shadows. The painting isn’t really about the location. It is a painting that takes its origin and source from the location. It isn’t a literal painting. It exists as a painting in its own right. Gestural and expressive, hopefully capturing a memory of a time and place I frequently visit. There are clear references to Fauvism, Expressionism and the 1940’s Cobra art movement. There are also links to the works of Barbara Rae, Gillian Ayres , Howard Hodgkin and John Hoyland.
The painting is shipped in a robust custom made cardboard crate (same as those used to transport large screens). The painting is bubble wrapped to protect the canvas. Further wrapping is made with corrugated card. A wooden frame is placed inside the cardboard crate to preserve the structural strength of the packaging. Each painting is insured to its sale value. Shipping costs within the U.K. take into consideration weight and insurance. U.K. shipping costs for this artwork are £75
