Artwork description:

This is a hand pulled drypoint print with chine collé, and then hand finished with gouache paint on the background. This print is number 1 in a variable edition of 30.

This drypoint is produced by hand-drawing the design into a sheet of plastic and then the plate is inked up using the 'intaglio' method. The collage paper used for the chine collé is placed on the plate before it is run through the press - the bold designs of the paper working in harmony with the subtleties of the ink effects and the image of the figure. The background is then finished by hand using gouache paints to create a modern and contemporary piece of figurative art.

Drypoint print using oil based printmaking inks and hand-made Japanese Chiyogami paper on Somerset 300gsm printmaking paper
