The greedy King Midas, who wished that everything he touched with his hand would turn into gold, one day turned his own daughter into a gold statue. In "The Midas Touch of the Pink Robin", the little bird touches the branch for a short rest, and turns it into gold.
I have wanted to introduce gold elements into my watercolor for some time now, so here is my first mixed media experiment: watercolor plus gilding. For the gold leafing (gilding), I am using 22-karat yellow real gold leaf by Giusto Manetti Battiloro.
Hahnemühle 425 gsm watercolor paper; Artist's quality watercolors (Schmincke; Winsor & Newton); 22-karat gold leaf
