Original artwork description:

I try to create a subtle but visually appealing ground at the beginning of each painting. In its accumulation and division of layers and formal relationships, the work not only documents the painting process, but also serves as a record of expressive movement over time.
Through the use of pigment and wood stain, the materiality of colour becomes a theme, ranging from matte and velvety to transparent and translucent, resulting in a visceral and sometimes thickly applied surface.
All my artworks are on hardwearing, stretched and triple primed gallery quality cotton canvas and ready to hang. I include a certificate of authenticity stating the materials and when the painting was completed. I use fine, high quality materials and UV protective varnish to protect from sunlight.
