The Madonna of Byzantium is an imaginary portrait of a woman in the style of Renaissance. Her gentle face is framed by curly hair streaked with white, escaping over a headband of luminous petrol blue dotted with small white flowers. The background is painting in a dark luminous blue, while a golden halo surrounds her head, for a Madonna is above all a virgin, and this one seems to be none other than the eternal Mary, mother of Jesus...

The painting is housed in a magnificent antique Napoleon III frame carved in black and gold. It gives the whole a baroque effect.

Technique: water-soluble acrylic and oil paint, relief paste.
