This Christian Oil painting depicts Jesus Christ on the banks of the Jordan River, with his Apostles close behind. He stops to rest and is approached by a woman, her husband, and her Father. They have escorted her Father to find Jesus, so he may be blessed in his final years. The old man kneels at the feet of Jesus as his daughter comforts him. Her husband stand in vigilant prayer. The concept of this painting is that even though Jesus is busy with others, he has not forgotten you. He beckons you to join him. Let me share a little story about the spiritual event that happened in the creation of this painting. I planned on this being my life's masterpiece. I planned on spending a decade painting this one, an hour here.. and hour there... only when i wanted to experience the joy of painting for myself. I was having trouble painting the face of Jesus, and I knew if I did not get that perfect there was no use continuing with this project. I tried several days to get it to suit me, but I always failed. Each time I would wipe off the wet paint and try again the next day. One night, when I got home, I went into my studio and just sat down and prayed. I asked the Lord to help me paint him so that others may SEE him in some way that would inspire them to look to Him. To "Beckon Them". So I painted the face of Jesus Christ once more. When I finished, I was still not pleased, but I was patient. I stood there looking at it in a serene peaceful state of mind. I walked from one side of my studio to the other as I studied it. Then it happened, when I walked past...in front of the painting , suddenly the entire head of Jesus turned slightly... to follow me. I almost passed out! The shock of it! You know how there is an illusion when the eyes of a portrait painting will follow you? Well some way I had painted an illusion that makes the entire head of Jesus turn and look at you once you are past him. I have seen people gasp, yell out loud, and several begin to weep. It is really quite amazing. You can almost see it do this right on your computer if you walk from one side of the room to the other in front of the screen... keeping your eyes on the face of Jesus as you do so. But it is not as powerful as viewing the painting personally. I wanted so bad to paint so much more detail on this painting, but I am afraid to touch it further. This artwork is sold unframed but I have attached pics of it in a Cedar Frame that was handmade especially for this painting by a fellow Christian Kentucky Artisan. The frame is a beautiful cedar wood with knots and flaws. Contact me if interested in the frame. It will cost additional $300 which I will add to the shipping cost.
