Original artwork description:

Walking along Brighton seafront one afternoon I came across this lifeguard station with a lonely lifeguard on the deserted beach. I thought that it would be darkly comic to paint him facing a threatening sky to heighten his isolation as he is lit by the last rays of the afternoon sun still having to stay there and do his duty until the end of the day.

Materials used:

oil on mdf board, gessoed on both sides.
