Taken in Snowdonia, Wales, I had hiked through the valleys down to the waterside to see the iconic solitary tree at Llyn Padarn. It looks so out of place in its surroundings, unprotected from the elements, with its roots clinging on to the shoreline of the lagoon, that I knew I wanted to make it the focal point of my shot.

It was a cloudy day and so I attached a long exposure Lee Big Stopper Filter to my camera to capture the clouds as they drifted across the lake. I wanted to smooth out the texture of the water and skyscape so that they didn’t detract from the shape and structure of the tree against the welsh mountains.

The printer is an Epson SC-P800 and the paper stock is Innova Metallic Gloss paper, guarantying quality and detail in both light and dark areas. The mount is white.
