This painting is from my Ashdown Forest Series. My husband is always surprised at the lack of 'forest' in many areas up on Ashdown, which in places is really scrubland with gorse, heather and bracken. This scene feels quite typical of the area for me. One isolated tree in a vast area of natural beauty, open to the elements.
