I love painting musicians at work. Here is William Henry Joseph Bonaparte Bertholoff Smith. AKA, "The Lion" 1893-1973. Willie was a jazz pianiast and composer during the 1920's and 30's. He lived a fascinating life that you can read about on Wikipedia.
I found this old photo taken about 1950 and had to make it into a painting. Of course the original was black and white but since Willie was such a colorful character, I used my "artistic license" to embellished it with some brighter color. The painting is india ink and acrylic paint on archival grade drafting mylar. It is an original work of art and no authorized copies will ever be made.
