An ethereal abstract painting in oil.

This piece recalls a serene landscape, where colours shift and sway, obscuring borders and coastlines. A sense of distance is created by the lightening of colours, where a pale yellow meets a soft grey at the horizon line.

The oil paint is applied in many transparent layers onto a fine linen Italian canvas. This smooth surface texture allows the thin layers to 'float' as if drifting across the terrain.
There are areas where the colour is strong, bright and glossy that contrast with soft, matt areas of colour that are delicately layered upon each other, so that the colours appear to 'vibrate'. A fine 'river' meanders and forks into the distance.

This is a painting that allows your imagination to drift off to a serene place.

The edges of this artwork are a clean white (please see additional photograph).
