Unusual creatures that captivate your attention.
The Ladders that these people are riding on may have originally been inanimate, but they have come to life and are running along by alternately jumping between their hands and feet. This causes an energetic lolloping action, as they curve and flex their long ladder backs, and the riders have to adjust themselves in order to balance on each step of the stride. As the ladders rear up on their hind feet the riders have to sit up, and as they plunge forwards onto their hands the riders must lean backwards. They all seem quite happy with their activity, and the riders are carrying it off with style. It is unclear what the ladders think about it all.
These sculptures are made of a beautiful translucent British eco-resin, which allows for interesting glimpses through to the armature, or internal structure of the sculptures, and are mounted on individual, separate, clear, flat acrylic bases. They are each approximately 23cm long by 27cm tall and 10cm wide including the bases, and the pair are a limited edition of 24. The sculptures are initialled on the inside ladders’ left wrists, and come with a signed letter of authentication, stating the edition number. They are the right size to sit on our desk, shelves or mantlepiece and look as if they are travelling across their own landscape there.
Although the sculptures look delicate, they are actually much more robust than they appear, as well as being lightweight, and can withstand small knocks and movements in the home. I package them in a sturdy cardboard box and they travel very well by courier.
See my further listings to purchase either of these separately, and please feel free to send me a message with any questions. There is a “Contact Me” button next to the “Follow Me” button under my profile images. Thank you so much for your interest in my work.
