Original artwork description:

Choosing your jungle. Contemplating our organised wild and the true wild; Our modern society in question. Where might we plant our roots tomorrow? In this piece, I delved into the juxtaposition of human structures with the untamed spirit of nature.

This climate concerned painting was done on the Mediterranean coast in Spain, overlooking the sea with the backdrop of the Sierras de Tejeda Almijara y Alhama (mountains) behind me. Nestled between these glorious natural elements, are mass tourism developments that are often empty over the winter period. This disconcerting contrast has me question our priorities. I wonder how much more we can encroach on Mother Nature. Let us celebrate and protect our true wild!

Ink and acrylic on high quality canvas with a UV protective varnish, painted in an expressionist manner that borders on the semi-abstract. The work is signed on the front and back of the canvas. Ready to hang and to ignite discussions in your space!

Materials used:

acrylic, ink
