A faceless person is jumping in the dark, through a blue, turquoise mist. Or is it thick smoke? The jump is full of energy, their arms are flailing. It could be out of playful joy. It could be to escape the danger behind.
My paintings are built from a mixture of romantic paintings, film stills, and contemporary suburban photography. The main importance is the mixture of beauty and looming threat. I seek to light scenarios which draw attention to the mood of a specific time of day. Each Landscape holds its own open-ended narration. A story to be found.
This piece was part of the solo exhibition "What We Left Behind" at Galeria ATC, Tenerife Spain, in 2022.
