Original artwork description:

Pastel drawing based on the Greek mythological tale of Paris of Troy who had the task of deciding between three goddesses as to who was the most beautiful - the prize was a golden apple for the fairest.

All the gods had been invited to attend the wedding of Peleus and Thetis except for Eris, the goddess of Discord, who, when she appeared at the feast was turned away and, in her anger, cast the golden apple amongst all the attending goddesses. Aphrodite, Hera and Athena all claimed the apple. Paris was made to choose by Zeus father of all the Gods. He chose Aphrodite, Goddess of Love, because she promised to give him Helen, the most beautiful woman, for his wife. The subsequent abduction of Helen led directly to the Trojan War and the fall of the city.

Drawn in bright chalk pastels on heavy 300gsm Somerset textured paper with a deckled edge. Aphrodite wears a golden sphere as a necklace and Paris's hand lifts a lock of her dark hair which as it descends turns to gold. The blush of passion lies at her breast as it does in her flushed cheek. The other two goddesses recede into the distance. Signed bottom left.

One photograph shows the deckled edge of the paper. Some collectors of my works prefer to frame the artwork with the edge of the paper showing, so I have created a CGI of how it might appear floated with the deckled edge of the paper visible.

This pastel drawing is available unframed; wrapped in acid-free tissue, carefully packaged and sent to you by Tracked Delivery.
Certificate of Authenticity included.
