The minute I saw this mountain island, I knew I had to paint it. An incredibly windy and turbulent day told me I had to get it down quickly and with great confidence. The lily pads reaching to the shores also attracted my attention. The sun flew in and out, and sometimes that log along the island's shore flashed into focus and begged to be painted. Lots of people passed by, but I couldn't really engage in conversation with them, so short was the window of painting time. This is what painting outside, on the fly, is all about.
