Painting in Art Déco style representing the portrait of Bettino Ricasoli, nicknamed the "Iron Baron" (1809 - 1880), Italian politician, mayor of Florence and second president of the Council of the Kingdom of Italy after Camillo Benso Count of Cavour. His name is linked to the history of the Italian Risorgimento for being one of the major architects of the Unification of Italy. The last years of his life he returned to restore his physical and moral strength in contact with the land and with the humble farmers that he deeply loved and that, with constant work, he tried to support both materially and morally. He attributed an almost sacred meaning to Tuscan agriculture and considered the function of the owner to be that of a "missionary".
