On a recent trip across Scotland we stopped of at Inveraray Castle. Whilst the castle itself was fairly interesting, the real gem was the fantastic park and woodland that were also included in the entrance price.
Amongst the vast swathes of daffodils and blue bells were a number of really old looking trees. This oak really grabbed my imagination, with its twisted trunk and branches that bowed to touch the floor, then rising up again into the canopy.
This print comprises a number of shades of green, with a layer of blue to signify the blue bells at the foot of the tree. The final layer is of grey. I would normally choose black as the final colour but this time I thought that might wash out the light greens in the palette so I chose a mid grey.
Printed on 300gsm Canaletto using water based inks
