Original artwork description:

I wanted to paint the warm ground of the path I love the most, the one I have walked many times to learn to paint, the one where I fell in love with nature.
In summer its sandy soil is hot, while all around you the green seems to want to embrace you.
The intense heat rising from the ground distorts your vision, shakes what you see in the distance and makes the path seem ephemeral.
In these places you feel that the earth belongs to you and you feel that you belong to the earth.
I imagine that in a distant time I had roots that years of evolution have turned into feet. And seeds of that memory still live in my DNA.
It is a sweet feeling, like being in your mother's lap.

This painting was created in the studio in December 2022. It is a reworking of several studies done en plein air.
The work is painted in oil on Masonite, a panel made of compressed wood fibres. Masonite is a material that was widely used by artists in the first half of the 20th century as a support for their paintings because it is extremely strong and crushproof. I love painting on this material because its very smooth surface allows me to achieve effects that cannot be achieved on other materials. I also have the guarantee of high durability.
The signature is in the lower right corner.
The painting is protected by a layer of satin acrylic varnish.
The work comes with a thin wooden frame in natural colour to protect the edges. It is ready to hang.
The painting is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity signed by the artist.
"The hot ground" is a literal translation of the original Italian title "La terra calda".
