A flowering tree, is a woman, is a dream of transformation in a beautiful landscape.
Her body exudes desire with the rising energy of a new season.
In the background I've placed two sets of 'twin trees' either side of her on the horizon, which is something that I frequently add to my imagery to suggest and celebrate love and companionship.
This drawing was created in early March and as I looked out of my studio window when it was nearing completion, (see one of the photos), I noticed the cherry tree about to burst into bloom. I hadn't planned to put blossom in her hair but I felt that was just the right idea to complete the image -I've chosen a strong cerise to balance the other bright colours I'd already used.
That tree was a gift to me 21 years ago when I was ill and seeing it every Spring since then, reminds me how lovely it is to be alive - and hopeful.
It is also a return to a theme that I visit from time and again in my artwork over the years - that of the Greek myth of Phyllis and her transformation into the almond (or hazelnut) tree blossom.
I have used high quality chalk pastels on Somerset 22 x 30 inches textured paper.
The pastel is sprayed with professional pastel fixative.
I'm offering this artwork unframed; as this is such a large work and would take pride of place in a room, so I believe my collectors prefer to match a frame to their existing artworks and decor.
If you would like advice on framing the artwork, please do not hesitate to email me through Artinder's email system - the Contact Me button is at the top of my shop page.
It will be packed very carefully, sent by tracked delivery with a Certificate of Authenticity..
