Original artwork description:

Ink drawing as a tribute to the Florentine historical reenactment of Calcio in costume, considered by many as the origin of the game of soccer. In the foreground of the work I have developed an imaginary portrait of the patron saint of the city of Florence, St. John, to whose cult the event is dedicated; the rest of the scene is inspired by the sport and legend that characterize the Florentine Historical Football. Tradition still very dear to fans and footballers, has its origins in the history of the first games with the ball: from the Spheromachy of the ancient Greeks to the Roman Harpastum and the Middle Ages, when soccer on the streets was a very popular activity for Florentines. Memorable was the iconic game of February 17, 1530 in which the citizens, worn out by hunger and the siege of Charles V, took to the streets and began to play soccer in mockery of the enemy.
