On the background of the painting is the Estense Delizia del Verginese, an ancient Renaissance residence of leisure of the Este family, recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, is today one of the few Delights that testify to the greatness and importance of the lords in the area of Ferrara. Gifted by Alfonso I d'Este to Laura Dianti, the Delizia looks like a castle decorated with battlements and surrounded by a magnificent garden, the Brolo.
