It demonstrates almost 200 beautiful Monarch butterflies in their classic cluster formation trying to escape the confines of a sash window. The window is an original Victorian sash that has been lovingly restored then given a distressed effect. Each butterfly has been handcrafted out of paper. The top and underside are printed photographically and then handcut and bonded together. Wire antennae are then attached to each butterfly and then positioned in place on glass.
This process creates an incredibly realistic looking mass of butterflies that appear to be attempting to escape the trappings of the sash window.
This is an installation piece that demonstrates the sort of work that can be achieved. Different sized windows, formats or even butterflies could be used. Please feel free to phone or email me to discuss your ideas.
