“The Great Coxwell Elephant”

Silk-Screen Print. 1981.
Original Artwork, drawn and printed by the artist,
Edition Number 16/25, signed on the front.
Paper Size: 22” x 30” Image Size: 14.6” x 21”

In the summer of 1925, a strange event took place in the County of Oxfordshire. A group of children, playing in the ancient wooden barn at Great Coxwell, discovered an elephant stranded in the roof timbers of the barn. How had the elephant got there?
Here, defined in my “concentrics” we see the children and the village postman pondering the problem. To this day, no-one knows who was responsible for what must have been a very elaborate hoax!
