Original artwork description:

I am facinated by patterns and shapes in nature and love the movement, reflections and shimmer of fish swimming in shoals.

This is my eighth version of "The Golden One" and fifth version with koi carp.
I painted various sized individual fish in oranges, browns and coppers, and one in yellows. I then painted gold spirals on the yellow one and silver, copper, black and white spirals on all the others.

Each fish is shaped by hand and mounted on a small foam board plinth to enhance the three dimensional effect, and this helps to cast interesting shadows depending on where the light is coming from.

I take a long time positioning my forms until I'm really happy with the whole, and then they are fixed to plain, heavy watercolour paper ready for framing.

The whole piece is framed in a glazed (perspex) white deep box frame.

Materials used:

Watercolour and metallic watercolour on foam board, in a white deep box frame glazed with perspex
