🔎"The girl of Delft with pomegranate" is an original still life painted in grisaille covered with thin layers of glaze. Produced to celebrate Vermeer Year in 2023, this unique piece features the portrait of ‘The Girl with the Pearl’ accompanied by Delft earthenware. The main challenge was to paint the portrait, part of which is in shadow, while respecting the original colours. However, as we were celebrating Vermeer, I painted the portrait without the craquelures to show it as Vermeer knew it himself. The wooden frame blends perfectly with the composition for a rare and elegant piece.
