The effect of this latest series of abstracts is of a surface with a 'weave' through the brushstrokes themselves. This creates a rhythm and overall balance that vibrates with movement. Because of this textural use of the paint, the finished work can seem to shift in different lighting conditions, further enhancing the viewers fascination. Although abstract this piece lends itself to being viewed as a landscape, or a natural phenomenon in a state of becoming. Paul has therefore used the term 'abstract landscape' to describe this work.
