I’d begun a little all-over “Twigs/ Leaves” piece on watercolor paper. I paused from it- not certain how to complete it- and began this painting on Canvas. It was meant as a throwback to a series of loosely constructed Vases of Flowers I was doing several years ago. ( I’d recently been in the home of someone who owned one, and was reminded of those Pieces!) This time, I wanted to create a Crowd of Vases, filling a Tabletop. I was having fun building the piece, without consideration for the Palette. Once it was done, I realized that the leaves I’d painted on paper, coordinated perfectly with the colors of the painting. So I cut up, and added a bunch of those to this painting, marrying the two pieces of art. The canvas is painted around the edges, so it can be hung, unframed.
