Those lucky enough to live in close contact with nature develop an entropic relationship with it. And of all the forms in which nature presents itself, the forest is the most enveloping. A bit like the sea. You enter the forest and it is all around you. You have the feeling of being inside a great green organism. Leaves, branches and bushes are constantly brushing against your body in a series of endless caresses.
I wanted to express this sensation in colour by painting the leaves and branches that surround me when I walk in the forest with simple, quick, radiant brushstrokes.
This painting was done in the studio in August 2023. It is a reworking of several en plein air studies.
The work is painted in oil on rough paper, then stretched on 100% linen canvas mounted on a fixed fir frame.
The signature is in the lower right corner.
The painting is protected with a layer of satin acrylic varnish.
The work comes with a thin fir frame, which deliberately shows the knots in the wood to better relate to the natural subject. It is ready to hang.
The painting is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity signed by the artist.
"The forest around" is a literal translation of the original Italian title "Il bosco attorno".
