Original artwork description:

The Fold: is a body of work exploring the parallels between the Luddites' fear of Jacquard looms, and modern-day apprehension towards the emergence of artificial intelligence. Resembling folded fabric, echoing the intricate weaves of the Jacquard looms and drawing a visual connection to the craftsmanship of early 19th-century weavers.

The artist created these drawings using an AI to control a robot programmed with intricate patterns. The artist deliberately used imperfect pens to introduce unexpected variations. By layering and varying colours, the artwork captures the interplay between human intention, machine precision, and unpredictability, reflecting the series' themes of technological disruption and human response.
