Original artwork description:

Oil, acrylic, 24ct Manetti Superior Gold Leaf on birchwood - framed in a white-grained wood.
25x25"

(Limited Editions are on a Decor Art Velvet 300gsm Paper with a metallic underlay to resemble the gold effect, with a white circle framing the artwork as shown in the images.)

The artwork was shown at the Women's University Club in Mayfair, for the celebration of the King of Ashanti's Silver Jubilee. A private function held by the King's nephew, with speeches about the King's collectibles which are held at Windsor, the V&A and The Wallace Collection.

The artwork was shown at my solo show IN FLIGHT, at The Hyde Gallery, Chiswick London and

The Other Art Fair in London, March 2024 - presented by Saatchi Art.

The Flight of Salvador is the last painting in the series of gold panels from The Brazil Collection.

I carefully select the colour & positioning for the pieces, painting in pairs. Each bird is painted in oil to project from the grains of the birchwood. Each bird has their own character & I wanted the bird in this piece to be in flight. With resting vines of Brazillian flowers entwined & falling behind the bird.

The painting shows different painting techniques. I used acrylic to paint the botanical work & finished the stems of the flowers in 24ct gold leaf. There is a light acrylic wash on the birchwood, so that the grain shows through, contrasting with the vibrant oils of which the painted hummingbird.

A nature-inspired work. The birchwood panel is set on a 24ct gold-leafed wood panel. Creating not only a painting but a sculptured piece of art.
