‘The First Signs of Spring’ is an original hummingbird painting by British artist Sian Storey.

A square canvas sized at 100x100cm and 5cm depth, Sian used acrylic and spray paint to create this beautiful and serene painting. The soothing colours of white, pale blue and copper provide a wintry backdrop against the vivid spring-like colours of the hummingbirds in flight, and vibrant dancing blossoms.

The copper spray paint catches the light with a shimmering effect.

The painting is signed by the artist Sian Storey on the front and reverse, and will be a stunning addition to your art collection.

Sian is continually inspired by the sheer beauty of hummingbirds and their symbolism of hope. On this painting, she's surrounded them with joyful sakura blossoms that appear to move in a breeze. Here, Sian has used the peaceful mandala symbol to represent harmony and eternity.

‘The First Signs of Spring ’ was painted in January 2019 in Sian Storey’s studio in Hampshire. Using acrylics and spray paint, you'll see detailed, delicate brushwork and beautiful mists of spray paint.

Sian paints in layers, as seen in the intricate stencil technique of the background and rich acrylic paint of the hummingbirds and blossoms. The spray paint is used to diffuse edges and lines, creating a hazy, dreamy finish.
