The painting, in contemporary figurative style, is inspired by Saint Catherine of Siena who was one day in the chapel of the church of the Preaching Friars of Siena when a blazing light from the sky suddenly enveloped her and she had a mystical vision. It was Jesus Christ who gave her His vermilion and shining Heart, announcing to her that she would live forever from that moment on with that heart. After having placed it in her chest He closed the opening He had made among her ribs and, as a sign of the miracle, a scar remained in that point of her body, as numerous witnesses who could see her claimed. From that moment the Saint could no longer say: "Lord Jesus Christ, I commend my heart to You".
