Original artwork description:

These majestic Eucalyptus trees are always inspiring to me. Thier light colored trunks with their graceful foliage that shimmer in the wind are exquisite. I was particularly interested in capturing the multiple trees staggered in this grove. The trees in the distance are suggested, less detailed, and cool in color. The distant trees are blues, greys and purples while the foreground trees are shades of greens and gold in the foliage and warm neutrals in the trunk and branches. This painting also has a circular composition which was intriguing for me to see.

I paint in the lineage of the French and American Impressionists who were inspired by the light and color of nature. I begin the painting with brushes and finish with a palette knife. Layers of paint reveal the movement and texture of this subject. The brush gives a soft feel while the palette knife has crisper edges. With the knife I can also achieve more color refinement.

I painted this on a linen canvas panel. This is more conducive to outdoor painting especially with a palette knife. Since I paint in layers, there is some texture to this painting but not too much. The layers of paint are not thick, so the texture is minimal. This painting is unframed.
