This painting comes from when I was sitting on the shore at Beaumaris on Anglesey. It was a beautiful evening and the sunset was breathtaking. I sat with my paints and canvas watching all the amazing colours all around me. As I painted a mother and son were walking past me and stopped to have a look at what I was doing. They were really nice people. We talked about art and she was a keen artist herself. After they continued there walk I watched them hand in hand fading into the sunset. I wanted to show the power of a mothers bond to her child in relation to the power and beauty of nature. I quickly sketched them before they disappeared.
Back in my studio i was so inspired about meeting them. The colours, energy and movement in this painting all represent that special bond. Mother and child go hand in hand with nature and both have energies that will last forever. I wanted this piece to be spontaneous and not planned. I used a variety of pallet knives and brushes to get the marks and in some areas let the diluted oil paint run down the canvas. This gave a real feel of reflections.
I have loved creating this painting even with its many challenges that it presented. That`s what I love about painting, it is never easy and it takes me on a road to an unknown place. I never know what the painting is going to end up looking like.
This painting comes unframed but can be hung as it is. I am happy to attach hanging wire if you wish. I will include a signed letter of authenticity and a printed description of my thoughts and processes for this piece. This work will arrive to you in perfect condition and will be well packaged. If you have any queries please feel free to contact me, I am always happy to answer any questions you may have
